Q. What makes your tonneau cover/truck lid better than the competition?

A. We have experience on our side. Gaylord's has been manufacturing quality fiberglass truck lids and tonneau covers for over 55 years! As the industry leader, we've set the standards for the competition to try and follow!

Q. How is the truck lid attached?

A. We have two ways you can mount your tonneau cover.

1. Our new X2000 is a clamp-on unit. After the hardware has been clamped securely to the bed rail, the self-contained, stainless steel hinge/shocks removes and reinstalls with the lid in seconds. No tools required!

2. Our traditional hinge system does require some minor drilling into the truck bed to hold the stainless steel "Quick Release" mounting brackets. Once installed, the lid removes and reinstalls in seconds!

3. The EASY GRIP clamp-on system is an optional installation kit for the traditional lid. It allows a clean O.E. style install without drilling holes.

Q. Is the Speedsturr Wing Lid only available in X2000?

A. No, Speedsturr Wing Lid is available in Traditional style hinge with optional Easy Grip clamp-on system, and X2000.

Q. I have an early model pickup. Can you make a lid to fit that?

A. Yes. We have early model bed caps and truck lids to fit most Chevy's from 1947, including most El Caminos, and Ford's from 1953 on, including Rancheros! Each lid is designed to fit individual truck beds. No universal fits here!

Q. Will your lid fit over my bedliner?

A. Yes! We have designed our lid to fit over most bedliners. We recommend an "under the rail" liner (some modifications may be required) We strongly recommend Gaylord's California carpeted bed interior kit!

Q. Will my cargo be safe under your lid?

A. Yes. We provide a dual locking security system. Our locks have a steel shaft for maximum security to keep your cargo safe!

Q. Does your lid fit flush to the inside of my truck bed?

A. No! The lid has a unique over the bed rail design for strength, security, and a weather resistant seal.

Q. What colors are available?

A. Black and white are standard colors, or we can paint your lid to the factory color code using PPG urethanes for an additional charge. Simply give us your factory paint code, and we can paint it!

Q. What is that black trim around the edge of your lid, and can I get my lid without it?

A. That trim edge is used to protect the edges of the lid from chipping, and yes, you can get your lid built with a trimless edge option for a smoother look. Another option is a plush carpeted headliner under the lid for a customized finished look.

Q. I have a tool box in my truck bed, is there a lid that will fit?

A. Yes. We make custom lids that fit tool boxes and sleeper shells!

Q. I work out of my truck. I need more access into my truck bed!

A. Check out our Butterfly Lid, that hinges down the middle and opens from each side. With a locking T-handle on each side, getting in and out could not be easier! Tradesmen and contractor's love them.
